There’s nothing worse than investing in a beautiful new carpet, only for it to be damaged almost immediately.
That was exactly the situation one of our customers in Guildford found themselves in. They had recently had a stunning, high-end loop pile carpet fitted throughout their home. It looked incredible and completely transformed the room.
Unfortunately, while moving a piece of furniture, it caught the carpet and pulled one of the loops.
Instantly, what had been a flawless carpet became the only thing they could see.
If you’ve ever had a loop pile carpet, you’ll know how unforgiving they can be. A single pulled loop can quickly become a much larger problem if it’s left alone or if someone attempts a DIY repair. Pulling on the loop or trimming it incorrectly can make the damage significantly worse.
Thankfully, they contacted us before trying anything themselves.
Why Loop Pile Carpets Need Specialist Repairs
Loop pile carpets are one of the most attractive and luxurious carpet styles available, but they’re also one of the trickiest to repair.
Unlike cut pile carpets, the fibres are formed into continuous loops. Once one of those loops has been disturbed, the repair requires patience, specialist tools and years of experience to recreate the original appearance without causing further damage.
Every repair is different, and there isn’t a single method that works for every carpet.
The Repair
After carefully assessing the damage, we selected the repair method that would provide the best possible finish while preserving the surrounding carpet.
Working slowly and precisely, we were able to reposition and recreate the damaged section, blending it back into the surrounding loops.
The result was nothing short of remarkable.
Considering how noticeable the damage was when we arrived, the finished repair was practically a miracle. Unless you knew exactly where the pull had been, it would be incredibly difficult to find it afterwards.
It’s moments like these that remind us why we love what we do.
Don’t Panic If Your Carpet Gets Pulled
A pulled loop doesn’t necessarily mean your carpet needs replacing.
In many cases, especially when the damage is dealt with quickly, a professional repair can restore the appearance far better than most people ever expect.
The important thing is not to pull the loop, cut it or try to glue it yourself, as this can make the repair much more difficult.
